Health & Safety Manager-No longer Available

We are representing a leading manufacturing company based in Stone, Staffordshire. We are looking for a Health & safety Manager to effectively manage day to day quality practices within the business, reporting into the H&S Director.

Responsibilities include:

  • Promote and improve the awareness and accountability of individuals in relation to the H&S environment. Develop and maintain a sense of ownership amongst the workforce and a safety-first culture.
  • Day to day management and monitoring of Health and Safety systems including:
  • Regular inspection and observation to ensure compliance and to identify and implement improvements.
  • Maintain up to date documentation.
  • Management reporting
  • Feedback to employees
  • Ensure accurate reporting and recording of hazards, workplace incidents and injuries. Ensure adequate procedures are implemented to avoid recurrence Promote the use of near miss reporting to identify and eliminate / mitigate risks before they become accidents.
  • Ensure staff are working in a safe and secure environment and that they use best practices of occupational safety & health. Be a point of reference and advice.
  • Organise meetings and minutes for the existing Health & Safety committee.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation.
  • Ensure all Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work are complete and up to date.
  • Be the liaison point in relation to COSH and other such substances.
  • Take responsibility for employee training and keep training records up to date.
  • Arrange surveys (e.g. noise etc) as appropriate.
  • Assists the Management team in managing a Safe System of Work (SSOW) and Permit to Work (PTW) system for general site safety and safety from the system across the business.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve all aspects of the Company’s Quality systems, including:
  • Documentation and reporting
  • Communication of issues, improvements, and developments in Quality throughout the business
  • Devolving responsibility for quality down through the business to ensure all employees recognise their role in the process
  • Dealing with supplier issues and securing improvement
  • Sensitive handling of issues with customers in conjunction with sales team.
  • Experience in ensure ongoing compliance with the following standards: ISO 9001-2015
  • BRCGS Packaging Materials
  • FSC certification
  • Complete regular inspections of the Company’s Quality Management systems to ensure compliance and to identify and implement improvements.
  • Identify and plan for attainment of new standards as appropriate.
  • Maintain the Company’s adherence to current HARM / HACAPP requirements.
  • Hold monthly quality meetings to review performance and identify and implement improvements.
  • Keeping abreast of legislation, developments, and best practices within their areas of expertise, highlighting any implications for the business.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Formal training in H&S in the work place  as a minimum IOSH, NEBOSH (preferred)
  • Management experience, promoting H&S and a culture of health, safety and environmental responsibility across the organisation
  • Experience of internal auditing

Logline Production Operative-Filled

We are representing a successful company that is based in Cold Meece, ST21 area. They are expanding their team and are looking for reliable, diligent production operatives.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • the safe and efficient running of the logline process plant, including start-up and shutdown
  • undertaking monitoring of Logline process performance and taking corrective actions to address
    abnormal operating conditions and to safely meet the performance targets set by the Plant
    Manager,
  •  Completion of shift log and other record keeping such as abnormal plant conditions to comply with
    the regulatory requirements and Company standards,
  •  for undertaking front line and routine maintenance
  • Undertake ‘House keeping’ and maintain a safe and clean work place
  •  working with Fuel Store Operator and other colleagues to ensure a safe and harmonious workplace
    and efficient plant performance
  • fully participate in the shift roster to ensure adequate trained staff are available at all times
    throughout a calendar year to safely operate and maintain the logline process and biomass plant

This position is offered with full training! This is a permanent vacancy so you would be employed by the company directly.

Working Pattern:

All shifts are 8 hours long, so you will complete 6 days on and then 4 days off. The shifts are on a rota and include 0600-1400 1400-2200 2200-0600, the right candidate must be able to work all 3 shifts

The role is salaried at £32000.00

Skills and attributes

  • Experience in running process plant for which familiarisation and training will be provided
  • Ability to work safely and unsupervised during some shift period to achieve the target set by the
    Plant Manager Some mechanical maintenance experience is preferable
  • IT literate with good numeracy and English skills
  • To provide management information relating plant performance
  • Challenging existing work practices and seeking improvements to achieve efficient and cost-effective
    solutions.
  • Close liaison with all staff to ensure individual and business objectives are achieved in an efficient and
    timely manner.
  • Flexibility for this role is necessary, with the ability to accommodate flexible working hours, should
    specific problems such as plant outages or maintenance shutdowns or business requirements dictate

The Machine Operator will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining various types of machinery to ensure efficient production processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up machinery according to production specifications, including calibrating settings, adjusting speeds, and loading materials.
  • Operate machines to produce parts/components within specified tolerances and quality standards.
  • Monitor machine operations to identify any issues or deviations from production requirements, such as equipment malfunctions or material defects.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance tasks to ensure machinery operates smoothly and efficiently.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical problems, such as jams or misfeeds, to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules.
  • Follow safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Maintain accurate production records, including machine settings, production output, and quality inspection results.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to optimize production processes and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to machine operation and workplace safety.

Qualifications:

  •  or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in machine operation or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience as a machine operator in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with operating various types of machinery, including but not limited to CNC machines, lathes, mills, and presses.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and production specifications.
  • Attention to detail and ability to perform quality inspections to ensure products meet specifications.
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues effectively.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, Monday to Friday only
